Connection of Utility Services
Arrangement of connection for utility services
must be made between the hours of 8:00 a.m.
to 4:00 p.m. Customer must be current on prior
utility services with the City of Monett in
order to have services connected at a new address.
Utility bills are always due on the 5th of each
month unless the 5th falls on a weekend or holiday,
then it will be due the following business day.
Utility bills not paid five (5) days following
the due date will be subject to disconnection.
If the City of Monett uses the services of a
collection agency for collected past due amounts,
the past due customers will be directly responsible
for any fees associated with such services.
The City of Monett will charge a $20 fee for
any bank returned items associated with a customers
account.
Deposits
A utility deposit is required of all customers
and will be kept until services are terminated
and at that time applied to your final balance.
When moving anytime within the city limits,
a new deposit is always required.
Reconnects for Utility Services
Before 4:00 p.m. - There will be a $25 reconnect
charge before 4:00 p.m. Customer must contact
and pay past due balance at the Collection office
located in City Hall at 217 Fifth Street.
After 4:00 p.m. - There will be $50 reconnect
charge between 4:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. on regular
business days. Customer must contact and pay
past due balance at the Police Department at
1901 E Cleveland.
Between 10:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. on regular
business day OR anytime on weekends or holidays
- There will be a $100 reconnect charge. Customer
must contact and pay past due balance at the
Police Department at 1901 E Cleveland.
The City will no longer send a shut-off notification
letter as we have done in the past.
Refunds
Upon the discontinuance of service to any customer
and the payment of all charges due to the City,
utility deposits shall be refunded to the customer
posting the same; and upon the discontinuance
of service to any customer and the failure of
such customer to pay all charges due to the
City, such deposit shall be applied to all such
charges due the City. (City Code Section 715.490
