Monett Animal Control Officer Karen Griggs received a hefty donation for animals at the Monett Dog Pound last week thanks to the efforts of two Monett girls who took it upon themselves to lend a helping hand.Donation 1
Monett residents Londyn Kauffman, 8 and Kinleigh Johnson, 10, opened and operated a lemonade stand in Monett on Sunday, April 7 to raise money for the Monett dog pound. Word quickly spread around town, and before closing up shop for the day, the youngsters had raised hundreds of dollars.
But the contributions didn’t stop there. After the stand closed, many community members offered their aid, and began sending donations to the girls.
In total, the little animal lovers raised a total of $1,070 for the pound.
Karen Griggs provided a shopping list, and the Kauffman family placed the orders, and on Tuesday, April 23, they dropped off a shipment of dog treats, leashes, collars, enrichment toys, puppy pads, cleaning products and much, much more.
