Mark your calendars. May 24 is Public Works Day. From noon to 2 p.m., the Monett Public Works Department will have its equipment on display for community members to see at the Public Works Building located at 594 17th St. in Monett. Local youngsters will be invited to get an up-close look at the city's tractors, loaders, backhoes, graders, dump trucks and more, in a safe environment.

Monett’s utility crews have once again received national recognition for achieving exceptional electric reliability in 2023. The recognition comes from the American Public Power Association (APPA), a trade group that represents more than 2,000 not-for-profit, community-owned electric utilities.
Monett Public Works and Utilities crews are continuing work on a new maintenance building located at the North Park Sports Complex near the IOOF cemetery. The Monett Water Department is investigating the source of an unusual odor and taste in the city water supply. No bacteria or harmful elements have been detected in the water and it is safe to consume.
Utilizing a $13,000 grant from the Southwest Missouri Solid Waste District N, Monett City Public Works crews have been busy this month recycling brush and wood chips into compost to prepare for September's compost sale.
