Making community connections

Monett Police Chief George Daoud attended class at Small Wonders Preschool this week to meet with some Junior Police Officers to talk about safety, identifying helpful adults like Police officers and Firefighters, and hand out some activity books.

April Power Cost Adjustment

The City of Monett Utility Department would like to alert customers that the Power Cost Adjustment (PCA) for the upcoming billing will once again be higher than average at $0.03560 per kilowatt hour. The PCA for the March billing  cycle was $0.03109 per kilowatt hour.

The City of Monett has a team of nearly a dozen administrative professionals who manage everything from purchasing and ordering, to timekeeping, to answering phones and helping maintain schedules and communications between the 130-plus city employees. The city’s administrative professionals have a combined 50-plus years of experience bringing quality service to the community in a variety of capacities and are often overlooked by community members.

Monett Utilities recognized for reliable electric service

Monett’s utility crews have once again received national recognition for achieving exceptional electric reliability in 2023. The recognition comes from the American Public Power Association (APPA), a trade group that represents more than 2,000 not-for-profit, community-owned electric utilities.

Progress on N. Park/Cemetery maintenance facility

Monett Public Works and Utilities crews are continuing work on a new maintenance building located at the North Park Sports Complex near the IOOF cemetery. Earlier this month, city electrician Eric Thom worked on internal electrical work, and city road crews were busy pouring concrete in front of the facility’s vehicle bays.
The new 10,000 square-foot maintenance facility will house operations for both the North Park Sprots Complex and the Cemetery Department.

Monett Street Maintenance Plan

With summer rapidly approaching, the Monett Streets Department is gearing up for a busy summer schedule of road maintenance. In addition to ongoing repairs for regular road damage like potholes, the city maintains a preventative maintenance schedule on all city streets to prolong the life of roadways and reduce the amount of major rehabilitation projects.

The Monett Water Department is investigating the source of an unusual odor and taste in the city water supply.
No bacteria or harmful elements have been detected in the water and it is safe to consume.

Utilizing a $13,000 grant from the Southwest Missouri Solid Waste District N, Monett City Public Works crews have been busy this month recycling brush and wood chips into compost to prepare for September's compost sale.
